Heeding a call
My husband and I chose to call Tigard-Tualatin home nearly twenty years ago to raise our family in this district. We love how involved this community is in collectively supporting its neighborhood schools and providing the best possible opportunities for children to succeed. I believe a public school board should not be a partisan battlefield. I believe a school board director has a duty to represent ALL students and families in the district, not only those affiliated with one's own political party.
As a TTSD School Board Director I will:
Work to ensure access to full time, in-person instruction.
Push for educational excellence and opportunities for ALL students.
Ask tough questions and demand thorough and transparent answers.
Increase the academic and extracurricular options available to all students.
Work to further the important diversity and equity work the district has begun.
Serve as a collaborative, solution-oriented advocate for our kids.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
The right leader at the right time
My late father was chairman of Centennial School Board during my elementary school years. In high school I served on a student advisory committee advocating the installation of a School Based Health Center on the CHS campus. As my own children began their public school journey I became active in the PTA and in their various activities, carrying on my parents’ legacy of service to our communities.
My 25+ years of professional experience in human resources and customer support along with my long history of community involvement have allowed me to build the knowledge and relationships critical to this moment in TTSD schools. We are facing truly unprecedented times, including a pandemic that has pushed us further into our own “bubbles” at the very moment we need to be listening more closely to those outside our own spheres of influence.
An ardent community collaborator
Advisory Board member for ESOGA (Esports & Online Gaming Association), an organization built by parents and gamers with the goal to provide safe online gaming experiences built on community values
Registrar for Tualatin Youth Basketball
Co-chair of 2016 Tualatin Elementary PTA auction. Chair of 2018 Auction
Team Mom for youth football and youth basketball for 5 years
March of Dimes corporate team captain for Trail Blazers (through 2012)
Volunteer for local animal shelter
Former Drum Major for One More Time Around Again Marching Band (1994-2004)
A working mom and involved parent
As a working mom with a 7th and a 9th grader attending TTSD schools, I have a long history of advocating and fundraising for classrooms and school enrichment programs, as well as other areas in my community. A former marching band member and a musician, and mom of a musician and an athlete, I am a passionate advocate for all activities that help our students thrive.
